Sharon Dawes Elementary Students Enjoy Fall Field Trip to Gritt’s Farm
On September 25, 2026, students in grades K–5 from Sharon Dawes Elementary enjoyed a fun-filled fall field trip to Gritt's Farm in Buffalo, West Virginia. The visit gave students an opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience a working farm while enjoying a variety of seasonal activities.
During their visit, students experienced many of Gritt’s fall attractions, including hayrides, the corn maze, the pumpkin patch, and farm-themed play and exploration activities. Gritt’s Fun Farm is designed as an agritourism experience where students can enjoy outdoor activities while experiencing the sights and atmosphere of a working West Virginia farm. The farm’s fall attractions include a large corn maze, pumpkin activities, slides and play areas, and other hands-on experiences.
For students, the field trip provided more than just a day of fun. It offered opportunities to observe seasonal changes, learn about agriculture, explore the outdoors, work together, and make connections between classroom learning and real-world experiences. Students across kindergarten through fifth grade were able to enjoy the farm in age-appropriate ways while spending time with classmates and teachers.
The day was filled with learning, laughter, exploration, and memorable fall experiences, giving Sharon Dawes Elementary students a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season together outside the classroom.
A special thank-you goes to the teachers, staff, chaperones, and families who helped make this experience possible!
